WARNING!

This qualification requires both a written and proficiency exam to be passed. The only exception is if the trainee is currently qualified (not expired) for Earthwork Level 1.

Only currently qualified (not expired) trainees may opt out of the proficiency exam; all other trainees please select an option which includes the proficiency. To register to take the ECI Level 1 Written Exam Only, please look at our schedule for EO.W (Exam Only, Written) courses.

Two day's instruction on the proper methods to safely and effectively sample soil materials from the roadway, take earthwork density readings and record those findings in a density log book.

Qualification Information

To become qualified, the trainee should know and meet these requirements:

  1. Hold a valid Nuclear Radiation Safety certificate. (Trainee is responsible to prove certification to the CTQP administrator)
  2. Pass the Earthwork Construction Inspection Level 1 written and proficiency exams.
Note: If the trainee is currently qualified, only the written exam is needed to re-qualify

Course attendance is optional.  Challenging the exam and passing will still meet requirements

This qualification also applies to other FDOT qualifications as follows:

  • Earthwork Construction Inspection Level 2: If the trainee is not currently level 2 qualified, the level 1 written exam must be passed before level 2 qualification will be granted. (Re-qualification for level 2 does not require level 1 written exam to be passed again, just the level 2 exam.)
